I'm looking at documentation (Configuring the ECM Infrastructure (ECMI) - Configuring Composition Environment Platform - SAP Library) about ECM Infrastructure on Netweaver Java stack.
Still there's something unclear to me:
Is ECM a real SAP Product or just a standard (like CMIS)?
Does the ECMI on NW Java involve some actual physical storage for files or is it just the adapter/connector to a third-party solution?

I have a question which you might be able to help with. It's to do with extracting PDF files from a Max DB - Content Server.
On our current SAP system, our invoices are stored on a content server and I was keen to understand if there would be a way of mass downloading the PDF's instead of the alternative which would be clicking into each individual invoice in the front end and downloading this way.

we have installed Open Text Content Server 10.0 and Archive Server 10.0
Installation completed successfully
when we try to login to Open text using Administration client with Otadmin / <password> it says time out
we have using port 8080 in properties
further in All Programs>Open text CS>Content Server Administration it is giving HTTP Response 404
Please let me know where to see the logs or any setting to be done after installation.

I have a content server 6.40 currently running on Win 2003. As Windows 2003 Server is going out of support from Q2 2015, we had a requirement to migrate our content server on to Win 2008 with installation of latest available version 6.50
Can someone help me about the notes which specifies the pre-requisite checks/compatibility of CS 6.50 with Win 2008 and also the link to installation guide for CS 6.50 on Win 2008

I am writing this topic in order to understand the requirements and functionality between SAP ECM module and the tool Open Text.
Please Please consider the following questions:
• Survey of the system requirements necessary for activation of this module in SAP (eg which version / SP level is required);
• As the communication between SAP and OpenText is performed through this module;
• What kind of features are available between SAP ECM and Open Text.
This is a feature that I wish to implement and I am having some difficulty finding this information. Please share with me your knowledge about this theme.

I had to change the connection to content server to HTTPS. In IIS everything seems fine and the following page can be displayed:

We have a SAP Open Text VIM application on SP4 and we want to do some modifications like changing the text, hiding the button, etc.
However I am not able to find out the code where to make this change.
Can someone please tell me where can I find the file to make the change? What are the files to be edited.

Greetings, I have a requirement to archive the non SAP documents like E-mail, scanned document and scanned images using the open text.
This is something new for me and as well as for my customer.
At this moment the current system is completely manual the letters or emails (both inbound and outbound) are stored in paper based system. They want to change this system by using the open text.
Scenario may be like this for a business partner there will be lot of Inbound and Outbound communications happening, all these communications should be stored in Open text (or equivalent storage using Open text) and the link should be stored against the business partner.
I have few questions regarding this.
1. Which team will take care of the integration of Open text with SAP?
2. Once the Open text is integrated with SAP how can I archive the non SAP documents through Open text? (Just an overview or Step by Step procedure will help me)

My understanding is it allows you to log in as any manager and make Comp changes on his/her behalf, but then again I am getting this error which says "You are not allowed to run the poweruser mode for PERNR xxxxx". Below is the functionality that we are trying to acheive : -
1) We have the facility to provide attachments at the PO item level.
2) These attachments are the DMS documents which are created in transaction CV01N.
3) Requirement is, whenever PO form is printed through messsage type automatically all the attachments (in the line item of PO) must also get printed.
We have investigated and identified the following issues until now: -
1) Printing of DMS documents involves frontend printing (i.e. SAP spool is not generated, its normal printing ). Is there a way to print this DMS document to Spool rather than using frontend printing ?
2) We can access the DMS documents data in Binary/xstring format but there is no way with which we can stream this binary/xstring data to spool ?
3) Whenever we try to print the attachments using frontend printing, incase of PDF files the file just opens and it is not printed automatically. Is there a way to print this PDF's automatically without opening it using frontend printing ?.
4) A temporary copy of the originals in the DMS documents is created in the local directory C:\tmp\. Is there a way (apart from manual way) to delete these temporary copies automatically once they are printed ?
Any help on the above issues will really help.

I am trying to check the value of a characteristic when I save a document in CV01N/CV02N.
I am using IF_EX_DOCUMENT_MAIN01~BEFORE_SAVE but I have no access to classification information.
I have seen that in the same implementation there is a method call BEFORE_SEARCH_DATA that has the classification data.
How can I acces that information??

I am working on a implementation project for SAP VIM by OpenText. This solution normally involves scanning clients which are doing the transferring of the scanned invoices to the content repository. OpenText normally uses Enterprise Scan, which will require manual indexing of the relative information (i.e. company code, scan codes, etc.). The client doesn't want to do the manual indexing and they require that the invoices will just be fed to the scanner and it will automatically go to the content repository.
I just like to know if there is such a way to meet the client's requirements. They are saying that for other businesses using SAP, it is something possible. Please let me know your comments on this. Thanks!
